Nirvana Mommas

You may have noticed that Jill and I haven’t posted in the past couple of weeks! This is a HUGE no-no in the world of bloggers. But, we have good reason…we’ve been busy working to improve Nirvana Mommas!  

Before I went on vacation, we met with the publisher of a fantastic magazine in Sacramento…and she actually wants to put us in it! Yippeeee! Once it’s published, we’ll link to her site.

 Even better? She asked us to meet with Penny Sylvia who is an incredibly talented photographer (check out her site here). We actually had a photo shoot a little over a week ago that included myself, Steve, Rod, Jill, our boys, and Mike. Yes… we finally got the family pictures we’ve been talking about!! When we met Penny, she immediately put us at ease. We had an effortlessly great time! Not only does her work capture people’s lives in a cool, journalistic style, but she was so fun and down-to-earth…and she just “got” us. We shared a bottle of chardonnay as she snapped away. Jill and I felt a bit funny at times (let’s be honest, it’s not every day we get to have a “photo shoot!”) but Penny was so sweet - she really helped us feel comfortable. She even wrote a post about us on her own blog…check it out here!
We are so excited to share our story - our goal is to inspire and motivate women like us to get over themselves and put their kids first. Come now…it’s not all that tough. This reminds me of a quote I saw recently: “Nothing is more beautiful than potential.” Think about it. Everyone has the potential to make their life what they want it to be. I think it’s true that we live the life we create for ourselves (well, okay, this isn’t true when it comes to tragedy…). But, with things within our control, I think it’s absolutely true. We believe divorced families have the potential to live in a peaceful way - if they are open to it.

When Jill and I first embarked on our journey, we had no idea it would take us down this path. We had no idea that being open to friendship with each other would put us in a position where we could share our story with others. Hell…we were just trying to retain our sanity, truth be told (and make our kids’ lives a lot more pleasant).

 So…in the past few weeks, we’ve been busy mommas. Not only did we get some incredible pictures with Penny, but we’re working with our web developer right now and will have a new site launched by mid-March. In the meantime, we promise to keep posting!
