This Letter to the Editor appeared in Kidaround magazine’s May/June 2008 edition!
Thanks for your article in your last issue about “The Other Moms.” (March/April 2008) It struck such a chord with me and I could not put it down. I felt like I was reading something out of my own life. You see, my ex-husband’s wife and I are Jill and Shelley. Well, we feel like it anyway after reading the article. It wasn’t always that way – for the first few years, then one day I think we both decided enough was enough. My daughter was the one suffering and we all were responsible for it. Now even some of our friends think that it is abnormal or strange that we are such good friends, and I try to tell them that I think it’s the most natural thing in the world to us, we are like family. And best of all my daughter gets to be the benefit of all of that.
It was wonderful to see some awareness being brought to the subject. Maybe we will see a little more support from friends and strangers as this becomes more talked about.
